Fantastic post!
My favorite town.
Lived there and went to college there.
It's where I met all of my best friends.
Miss it dearly.
Shouldn't have left.
When I left, 14 years ago, it was in many ways similar to this reel from 1955.
So many things were the same.
Others not of course.
All of my friends have moved away now.
They they tell me that it is not what it was, even 14 years ago.
I find that sad.
I remember walks down the Marina Green along the Bay and into through the Presidio.
Irish coffee in North Beach.
Going to games at Candlestick, where the fog could be so thick you could see the ball.
Runs through the Panhandle to GG Park and the waves.
Walks across the GG bridge.
And my many girl friends who are the ray of light in an old man's memory.
I truly, foolishly, left my heart in San Francisco.
Thanks for the memories. Great post!

If we can't have our vote count our voices are not heard!
You coudlnt film this same area now without seeing people using the street for their toilet. Roger and I tried to get on a Cable Car but everyone raced past us pushing and shoving even knocking an old woman to her knees :( "rats after the same bit of cheese" is how it felt.

What's a visit to San Francisco without a stop in my old neighborhood, the Tenderloin? Otherwise, this was a joy to watch.

This video presentation brought back found memories
of living in the bay area and working in San Francisco.
I commuted from San Mateo to my job as a branch manager at a wholesale hardware distribution center located on Zoe Street, between 3rd and 4th streets,
near the S.F. court house and Al's Trans Bay Tavern.
The time frame was 1966 to 1967, and the area near
our warehouse was inclusive of eclectic neighbors.
The people were friendly and many of our customers sent bike messengers to will call parts.
I will always cherish my time spent in San Francisco. Beautiful city and great weather!

I was raised in North Beach and can't understand that I have left The City.
Love this fantastic video - I just feel my childhood memeories return. Down on Market Street going to the Emporium for a coke float in the basement floor.. going to Playland at the Beach and laughing at the fat lady...going to Golden Gate Park to listen to music and getting stoned...
Love.....

I was amazed at how little has changed: San Francisco is still a beautiful city. I hope its best days are yet to come!

Fun and Unique romp through San Francisco. I really did like the touristy angle with the drive and stop technique. Feels like you're really with him going to one attraction to another.Loved the shots of old school San Fan as well. Very fun to watch. Highly Reccomended!

This shows San Francisco when it had vitality and life.Notice how fit and well-dressed,and civilized everyone seems. No homeless drug-addicts pissing in the streets and living on porches. These people in the 40s and 50s built one of the greatest cities in the world and the leeches are now living off their accomplishments.

I have lived in in San Francisco since 1967 and I enjoyed seeing what it looked like in the 50ies. Anbody know how to burn a DVD so I can go and share it with other people?

I could not stop crying as I watched the video. In 1959 my family moved from Texas to San Francisco. When my dad use to drive the city bus and my mom use to take us to all those places in the video. She especially loves the flowers in Golden Gate park. She never neglected to take us to the beach and Play Land. I have written a book about growing up in San Franciso. I was afraid that as I told about these places no one would ever be able to see the places of which I speak, for many of them do not exist anymore.
I loved living in The City. I will always hold fond memories of growing in San Francisco.
Thank you Tullio Pellgrini!

It's particularly fun to watch if you know San Francisco and can compare the SF of today with the SF of over 50 years ago. So many things have changed but I was impressed by how many significant things remain the same but within significant context changes: old cars, old fashion, old brands. This is a San Francisco of less than 800,000 people when ports had traffic, when amusement parks were active, when the world was slower and less complicated. Especially if you know SF, you'll enjoy this look back through time at a city you probably love.
